On the 27th of November 2002, this beautiful, soulful, blessed little girl came into our lives. GraceRose Bauer, perhaps one of the most energetic and inspired people we know was born with Cystic Fibrosis. A life-threatening disease, CF is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide).*
After nights awake, many, many tears and questioning this “higher being”, Leah decided that tears were not going to solve this problem. As a unit we banded together to help find a cure and thus began the story of Leah’s dedication to fundraising. Always one to put others first, Leah was no stranger to helping for a greater cause. In high school and college, she devoted much of her time to underprivileged youth, helping show kids the unearthed creative, athletic and academic talent they possessed.
Now, on a much larger, and more personal scale, Leah is enthusiastically dedicated to giving back.
“I just know that there is a bigger “idea” out there. Just look at CF – by raising money, I have literally added years to my daughter’s life. We are just so fortunate. To be doing the things that make us happy. To be inspiring others. To be alive.”
From artistic cheese plates – proceeds from which benefit the Daniel Price Memorial Fund*, to our Signorelli Tee’s and Pants – proceeds that benefit charities from OmniPeace to Susan G Komen to the American Heart Foundation, and much of our private label items – proceeds that benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity: New Orleans, we at DecaturLA are committed to designing the world we want to live in…one cause at a time.
