I saw this picture in William Sonoma and decided that I HAD to make THAT pie.
I believe mine came out better.
I’ve taken a liking to baking more recently.  I find it extremely remedial, because I have the opportunity to exercise my obsessive-compulsive inclinations all the while knowing that someone (namely Zander) will delight in my sugary creation.
Though it’s taken the better part of 26 years, the most valuable lesson I’ve learned to learn is that the difference is in the details.  Take a little more time.  Buy the expensive leaf-shaped-pie-crust-cutters (or have your mom buy them for you).  Take the time to make the crust.  Forget to add the butter.  Spend the time with your momma.  It’s priceless…even if she’s a bit dogmatic in the one-and-a-half-person-kitchen.
